Modern homes are typically sealed up tight as a drum. Although this is a plus for energy-efficient living, on the down side it’s a stumbling block to healthy ventilation, which compromises your indoor air quality. However, you can use the same technology in your home that hospitals employ to clean the air — bipolar ionization.
How it Works
Bipolar ionization requires no chemicals or harmful substances to purify the air. Instead, it uses an electronic device to supply voltage to a two-electrode tube, which produces an ionization field.
Health Benefits
The ions that are produced naturally break down unhealthy bacteria and mold, and they even neutralize odors. Bipolar ionization also removes airborne particulate matter, such as dust particles and pet dander, which aggravate allergy and asthma symptoms.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency notes an alarming indoor air quality statistic. The air inside your home may be two to five times more polluted than the air outside. But with some ionization systems, the air inside your home can be cleaned of 95 percent of the pollutants.
Air ionization systems are easily installed by experienced indoor air quality technicians. Some models are portable, including standalone towers and boxed units, and others are installed directly into the ducts of a central HVAC system. All models effectively clean your indoor air continuously.
In Central Arizona, the NATE-certified technicians at Wolff Mechanical are specially trained in indoor air quality technology. Please call us with any questions you have about how to improve the air inside your home so that your family can breathe safely.
Our goal is to help educate our customers in the Phoenix Valley area of Arizona about energy and home comfort issues (specific to HVAC systems).
